  • The first steps you need to follow, right after you dropped the phone

    The first steps you need to follow, right after you dropped the phone

    You’ve got your phone glass broken?

    Check your phone insurance (if you have one)

    The next important step you need to take is to check if the insurance of your phone, if you have one, also includes replacing the broken screen.

    Usually this does not happen and this is because breaking the screen is considered to be a thermal shock, and most smartphone manufacturers do not foresee this repair cost in the warranty agreement.

    But if the cost value is covered by the warranty of the device, read carefully under what conditions this is done. Most likely, the process is not fully covered by your insurer, but you are certainly covered a large part of your costs. Yes, this does not save you from taking money out of your pocket, but you will be able to come out much cheaper compared to a full cost of repairing that component.

    You can go directly to one of the service services authorized by the company that produced the phone or other authorized services. However, for devices purchased at subscription, any damage your phone suffers should only be brokered through your insurer.

    As a rule, depending on the case, you will have to pay a fee. But depending on the situation you are in, it wouldn’t hurt to make a phone call to your mobile operator to find out all the information you need in this respect.

    Use a backup phone

    Subsequently, after you have left your device to the specialists who will repair it, make sure that you have already prepared a backup phone that you will use for a few days, until you return to the other one.

    In the following, we will discuss extensively what damage your mobile phone may suffer. Here’s what you need to do if you dropped your phone on the floor.

    Accept the situation calmly

    If the phone just fell out of your hand, it’s best to calm down first and accept what happened to you. Concentrate your energy and resources to find solutions. There are no things that can’t be solved, especially if we’re talking about cell phones. Plus, the fact is already consumed, and you can just get used to the idea and solve the problem.

    Data recovery from a phone with a broken screen

    A very big fear when you break your phone is connected to the fact that you do not know what will happen to your phone data. If you have a memory card, chances are that your files are already saved on that card. To transfer data from your phone, on a laptop or PC it is necessary to have a USB cable with which you will connect to a USB port of your computer.

    Most of the time, cloud storage of data can save you. So check if you activated a cloud storage service, or what was the last time a data backup was made for this phone. This can save you in other situations such as: defective, lost or stolen phone. In the unfortunate case you didn’t do this, we advise you to do it for the next phone calls. For Apple devices, cloud storage starts at 1 usd per month for extra 50GB of memory, while cloud storage for Android devices is free in Google Drive and Google Photos for a few tens of GB. All you have to do is enable back-up in the cloud in your phone settings.

  • How do you tell the difference between a broken display and a broken glass?

    How do you tell the difference between a broken display and a broken glass?

    An incident like dropping your phone on tiles or cement leaves you with a bitter taste. In all the madness created by this episode, there is a pretty good chance that at some point you will confuse a broken LCD screen and a broken glass. The LCD screen is directly responsible for the display function of the phone, as well as for the touchscreen.

    As for the glass screen, it is played only by the outer layer of the phone, which, although it is designed to be durable, can be the first affected in the event of a strong fall from height.

    Most of the time, the damage to the screen in the glass is visible enough to realize that the touch component is not touched. However, there are situations where the glass screen can remain intact, and the damage actually occurred on the display. In this case, the repair will be a larger one and will cost you more.

    If you dropped your phone on the floor and it doesn’t turn on anymore, it’s best to go to an authorized service and leave your smartphone to the specialists. They will draw up a service sheet, note the unique IMEI identification of the phone and start operations to “save” your phone, so you can enjoy it again as quickly as possible.

    Another important point is that you should pay more attention to water resistance after you break your phone, as it may be lost.

    Difference between display, screen and glass

    To begin with, to better understand what is wrong with your phone, it’s best to know that the screen of a smartphone consists of three essential components:

    Display (component that allows the display)
    Touchscreen (touch component)
    Glass glazing

    It’s good to know that if the glass window deteriorates, there is no need to replace all three components. This leads to a significant reduction in costs if we were to balance the money allocated in case of repairing a display or touchscreen.

  • How to avoid overheating your phone

    How to avoid overheating your phone

    Smartphones help you to be constantly connected to what’s happening around you and keep in touch with your loved ones no matter where you are, but, like any other object, they are not without problems either. One of the grievances that sometimes users have about smartphones is about their overheating, especially because they do not understand the reason why this is happening.

    Even if you are a hard user of your mobile phone and you constantly need it, you can do a few things to avoid, as far as possible, overheating. For example:

    Use only original chargers, even if they are slightly more expensive;
    Do not forget the phone to charge for hours (during the night);
    Do not leave the phone, while charging, on textile surfaces (on the bed or on the carpet) because they store heat;
    Uninstall applications that you do not use;
    Do not leave open applications that you are not using at that time;
    Update the operating system when you have this possibility;
    Do not use the Bluetooth function in the long term;
    Don’t expose your phone to the sun.

    What problems can cause overheating of the phone

    Overheating of the phone is not only a disturbing problem for you as a user, but also one that can create device failures.

    The main negative effect that overheating of the phone can have is damage to the battery and chip.

    Mobile phone batteries are built to last over time, but not forever. If, for example, you expose your phone to the sun for a longer period, the battery will have to be charged more often because it will deteriorate.

    In the case of the chip, it is built in such a way as to avoid overheating the phone, slowing the processor speed in this respect. The chip can deteriorate if it is exposed to the sun for a long time, but this situation is quite rare because the phones are ready to cope with these cases as well.

    What do you do if your phone overheated

    If you notice that your phone sometimes overheats, you can solve the problem. When overheating occurs constantly, although you have taken the necessary measures to prevent it, it is best to go by phone to a service.

    Depending on the reason for overheating, you can do a few things to lower your phone’s temperature:

    If the phone overheats while charging, unplug it. Check if the charger matches your phone and, if you notice overheating and when charging occurs from the laptop, go with the phone to a service;

    If you notice overheating after a few hours of use without pause, during which time you ran multiple applications and also used mobile data, try to reduce these actions or, if possible, even stop using your phone for a few minutes to return to normal temperature;

    If you forgot your phone in the sun, turn it off, put it in the shade and wait a few minutes until it cools down naturally.

    We have to admit that rare or even non-existent are the moments when we leave the house without a mobile phone, so we must try to protect it so that we can help us whenever we need it. Pay attention to the signals your phone gives you and go to the service when you notice a problem. Do not ignore the overheating of the phone because it can be caused by internal problems of the phone.

  • How do you protect your screen against shocks?

    How do you protect your screen against shocks?

    Foil

    Today, many smartphones are equipped with protection consisting of a fairly strong glass for your screen, such as Gorilla Glass, a technology based on synthetic crystals. Gorilla Glass is designed to be thin and light, but at the same time sufficiently resistant to possible damage.

    Extra protection never hurts. That’s why it’s good to buy either a plastic or silicone film against scratches, or a glass foil, especially if you have a very expensive phone model, in which you invested more. If you are afraid that the touch experience will be reduced once you decide to put this glass wrap on it, you should know that you have nothing to worry about. You will be able to slide quietly on the screen because this protective bottle will not mess you with anything.

    Depending on the phone model you own, the prices for a quality protective film start from 1 dollar

    Cover

    It’s good to know that you can also “dress” your phone with a cover that protects your device from the impact of falling or scratching. Even if you are not a fan of colorful covers or with various designs, you can also opt for simple and discreet models, but shockproof.

    As for iPhones, for example, it would be good to consider such a protective mechanism, because of the numerous scratches that can appear both on the back and on the front of the phone, given the ease with which these phone models can slip through the fingers.

    There is now a wide range of models of covers, either transparent or brightly coloured, for every taste. You can also opt for glass covers, which are shockproof, but also slip resistant.

    In any case, in order to avoid any inconvenience caused by damage to the screen, as well as the back of the phone, it is better to be cautious. Perhaps it is good to consider the possibility to opt for a mobile phone insurance program, which will cover more of the repair costs generated by the damage created.

    If you think, however, that it is not worth investing in the cost of repairing the screen, you should also consider selling the phone. Even if it has suffered some damage, you can still sell it to those who are interested in the other components of the phone. For this process, which often can turn out to be complicated, it is advisable to turn to reliable specialists. We provide you with a certified sales guide, which includes more tips and useful information.

  • What to do if the phone’s display is broken

    What to do if the phone’s display is broken

    So, let’s talk in specific terms. What if you suddenly woke up with a scratched or broken display?

    If the phone got away with just a few scratches after a fall, you can assume you were lucky. If the phone is also broken, chipped or cracked, you must take measures depending on the severity of the situation. If the phone is just a little chipped and you can still use it, maybe it’s not really the case to fix it, but if the touchscreen doesn’t work or the display is affected, you need to fix the defect if you still want to use this phone.

    You have to know that this problem is more serious than when you just hit the glass. As I said above, the display is an essential integral part of your device.

    The evolution of the displays went hand in hand with the evolution of the phones themselves, and that’s how they got to be so performing today. This approach was supported, basically, by the increasing processing power and RAM, thanks to which we can surf the Internet today or run games as complex as those on a laptop or PC.

    The display has, therefore, a certain sensitivity, and if you can use a scratched screen for a long time, in the case of the display, the situation is completely different.

    How much does it cost to fix a display

    A bad display can give you a lot of headaches because it is a component as important as it is sensitive. There are many situations where when you drop your phone on the floor its bottle may remain intact, but without realizing it, the display may crack.

    Most of the time, however, the repair of a display consists of replacing it. This can be the most suitable option that you have at hand, although it can turn out to be quite expensive at times, depending on the model.

    How much does it cost to change a broken screen

    Even if it is not the most expensive component of a mobile phone, the screen may still make a hole in your budget, especially if you are not financially ready for such a process. The price of repairing a broken screen varies depending on the brand and model of your phone. We’re talking about devices that don’t have insurance or warranty.
